Old photos

Since I'm at a loss most days on what to write about, I thought that I would post some old photos once a week that I thought you'd enjoy of my children.

Memorial Day Race 2005

Hopie, Brigi, and Nessa entered the kids race for Memorial Day. They ran in honor of the Dad who was serving in Iraq that year. At the beginning of the race, I think they thought it would be fun. At the end, they were tired, wet & cold since it rained on them pretty good throughout the race. My dad, Roger and my brother, Mike also ran in the adult portion of the race. They are pictured in the group picture with two friends from Mike's work.
All of the children were given medals for finishing the race. Nessa didn't like that because she was tripped up at the beginning of the race and fell hard. I ended up walking her to the end of the race and she did finish with a little coaxing. They even gave a medal to little Zayah who was in the stroller. That was really cute! I can't believe I finished myself as I was 8 mo.'s pregnant with Gracie at the time. I had to pat myself on the back as well.
Great job, everyone!

I'm so tagged...

Marcia and Amanda tagged me to tell you 7 things about myself. I posted it here if you'd care to read it. I also tagged a few of you as well. I hope you have fun reading it!

Just for a random thought, I liked it when Brooke White sang "You're so vain" in American Idol. So, here's a new version for you:

You're so tagged, I betcha think this tag is about you, don't you, don't you.

I'm so tagging you 'cause I want to know more about you, about you.

Have fun and let us know that you're so tagged, you're so tagged.

I want to know all about you, about you!

Ah well, I'll keep my day job. This is in honor of Brooke because I like her and I felt bad for her yesterday. One of her happier moments on idol when Simon says, "I absolutely loved it!"

Sunday Braids

My girls have not always cooperated when I wanted to do their hair. They'd rather just have me leave their hair alone. So, when Gracie actually let me do her hair for church on Sunday I had to take advantage of the opportunity. Now, I'm not really a hairdresser or very practiced at doing hair but from a mom's point of view it's not too shabby. I think it turned out very cute!

Our little guy

I took our little guy, Noah, to his well child check up today. He is 5 and a half months & he's really doing great! He's still a bit on the skinny side but nothing to worry about. He weighed in at 13 lbs. 2 oz. today. His length was 25.5 inches. He reminds me of when Hopie was a baby by how he looks. Lengthy and skinny but oh so cute. He's been a bit cranky because of his immunizations but I'm sure he'll feel better in few days. He's also started to eat rice cereal and he's pretty messy after eating it as you can plainly see. Look for yourself how much our little Nohna, as Gracie likes to call him, has grown up.

The best chocolate chip cookies ever!

Around here, we love cookies. Zayah wanted to help me make some the other day. He did a good job and even stuck with it until we finished. He had an idea to make the best chocolate chip cookies ever! He thought that if they looked like snakes they would taste better. So, we rolled our chocolate chip cookie dough into snakes. To all of us, they tasted better because we had so much fun making them! Take a look for yourself - wouldn't you just love to eat a chocolate chip cookie snake?!

Piano, Anyone?

I went to a garage sale on Sat. and bought some books, overpriced video's, & a house decoration. Little did I realize that the real prize awaited around the corner and it wouldn't cost me a thing.
I finished at the garage sale and started driving down the road when I spotted a piano out of the corner of my eye just sitting out on the curb amongst the brush collection. I couldn't believe it so I had to turn around. I parked right in front of piano and got out of the car to look at it. I played it a bit and it seemed out of tune, one key was nicked a bit but other than that it seemed alright. I knew had to rescue this piano from the depths of the brush collection. Nessa took a look at it & also and agreed that I had to talk to the owners of the house to see if I could have the piano.
I went right up and rang the doorbell of the house the piano was sitting in front of and I asked the lady who answered if I could have the piano. She told me that I could certainly have it for free! I was ecstatic and made a few phone calls to see if I could track down a truck and a few men to help me move to my house. Since the lady was in a hurry, she had me set a time to pick it up and had her husband move it back into their garage. This was very nice of her since I had seen four trucks drive by in the process of me talking to her. I knew it would disappear fast.
I made all of the necessary arrangements and went back at 5 p.m. to pick up the piano. The owner's were very nice and helpful throughout the whole process. She made sure her husband didn't forget to give the piano bench and then she threw a little desk that Nessa loves for homework. All for free! I couldn't believe it because it was like the piano just fell on my lap from the sky. Figuratively speaking, of course.
Hopie and Jared thought I was crazy all that day until now that they've seen the piano. Well, what do you think?

Flamingo Dance

I found this today while I was looking around online. This is really fun and cute! Plus, you know how I love flamingo's. See what you think:

Fact of the Day

"The brain interprets the combination of receptors to recognize any one of about 10,000 different smells."

Don't try this at home

Our darling Gracie gave us a bit of a scare yesterday. She decided to play with some of her sister's beads and stuck one clear up her nose. Luckily, I noticed right away since she was close by me and I checked to see if I could help her out. I tried to remove the bead but to no avail. She was crying, calling out for Daddy and telling me it hurt. I knew that I would need to call Daddy for help. I called and he was able to take a break and come home to investigate.
Mustering all of his medical training, and with me blotting his sweat beaded forehead, he managed a successful extraction. Whew! Check out these pictures I took of the event:
