Don't try this at home

Our darling Gracie gave us a bit of a scare yesterday. She decided to play with some of her sister's beads and stuck one clear up her nose. Luckily, I noticed right away since she was close by me and I checked to see if I could help her out. I tried to remove the bead but to no avail. She was crying, calling out for Daddy and telling me it hurt. I knew that I would need to call Daddy for help. I called and he was able to take a break and come home to investigate.
Mustering all of his medical training, and with me blotting his sweat beaded forehead, he managed a successful extraction. Whew! Check out these pictures I took of the event:

Ironically, yesterday Laurence stuck a crayon up his nose and got a piece caught in there. We've never had a kid stick something up their nose before, and thankfully Laurence was able to get it out just by snorting out as hard as he could. I'm just glad he learned how to snort out about a month ago...the prospect of tweezers up a nose wasn't fun.

btw, I like your new blog picture, with the beach and all.

That was a close call. I am glad that everything worked out well.

I love the beach picture too, it is so cool!

Ouch. Poor baby. Pretty nice having a nurse for a daddy. Glad she's okay. She's a trooper.

Glad Gracie's OK now.
That reminds me of a time when Nikita was about 2 or 3. One day she kept tilting her head from side to side and saying, "I have a bell in my ear".
Sure enough, she had torn a tiny pea-sized bell off of a Christmas decoration. She wanted to hear it jingle and dropped it in her ear. When she tipped her head side to side, she could hear it jingle.
